Acoustics and vibration are considered specialty consulting areas (as opposed to structural engineering or HVAC design), but CTA has developed a national reputation in several specialty areas within acoustics. These are sound isolation of windows; prediction, analysis, and mitigation of sound from outdoor concert facilities; application of tuned-mass dampers to control footfall vibration in floor structures; and advanced computational techniques for prediction of construction noise. Our special capabilities in these areas have brought referrals and joint venture relationships from acoustical consultants in other cities.
