Sound Masking Systems (often inappropriately referred to as white noise systems) are an integral component for enhancing speech privacy. Continuous background sound reduces intrusion of noise and speech, thereby improving concentration and productivity of workers. Masking systems are nearly always appropriate for open-plan office areas, and are sometimes helpful in enclosed offices. Each system must be properly tuned for the correct level and frequency content so that the sound is both unobtrusive and effective in the finished space.
