Energy

Energy production is a critical part of our infrastructure. Sound produced by energy sources varies depending on the application and equipment. These facilities require careful consideration when conducting due-diligence, compliance, or remedial noise control studies.

Cavanaugh Tocci has experience conducting sound studies with many types of energy facilities:

·         Power plants, peaking generators

·         Electrical grid – transformers and substation equipment

·         Alternative energy – natural gas fuel cells

·         Renewable energy – solar farms and wind turbines

·         Emergency power – standby generators

Cavanaugh Tocci has done studies for existing and proposed energy facilities across New England.  In addition to power plants, our workload now includes wind turbines, solar farms, battery storage, and natural gas fuel cells.  We provide ambient monitoring, computer analysis to predict noise in surrounding areas, and reports for review by planning and zoning boards. These studies are often needed for permitting new facilities, and for reference by the design team.  On many projects we provide noise control recommendations during design in addition to the permitting reports.
