Mechanical: BR+A General Contractor: Lee Kennedy Company

Type: New Construction, K-12, Performing Arts

Scope: Architectural Acoustics, Audiovisual design,

The City of Boston’s only public high school focused on the visual and performing arts, contains a 500-seat proscenium theater, a black box theater, dance studios, music classrooms, a recital hall/music classroom, music practice rooms, a recording studio and visual arts studios and shops directly across the street from historic Fenway Park.

Detailed review of room acoustics, sound isolation and HVAC noise control was provided for this important project.  Careful consideration was given to acoustic isolation between spaces, a particular necessity in a five-story building with many rehearsal studios and classrooms interleaved.

The audiovisual, theatrical lighting, and rigging systems in the proscenium and black box theaters give the students and staff professional-grade equipment and flexibility to support their creativity and skill development. A building-wide digital audio network creates numerous possibilities for recording and collaboration.
