The Track at New Balance is a 455,000 SF facility located in the revitalized Brighton Landing area of Boston. Connected to Roadrunner, the entire block is buzzing with activity when concerts, athletic events, or both are occurring. The interior provides innovative facilities for visiting athletes and has already proven to be a record-breaking track that can routinely be transformed into multiple basketball courts, football and soccer fields, and many other configurations.

Cavanaugh Tocci provided acoustical consulting services from design through construction. One notable acoustical challenge was balancing the reverberation control in the large track space to provide enough speech clarity for announcements and media while allowing crowd noise and energy from the 5,000 spectators to build excitement. Our scope also included several New Balance training and auxiliary spaces. We had significant input on sound isolation to adjacent interior spaces, room acoustics for other large gym spaces, and HVAC noise controls for both the interior and exterior.
